Guy Johnston Alexander Technique

Welcome! I’m Henry George, a movement coach. I have worked with hundreds of musicians across the UK and abroad, including at conservatoires such as the Royal College of Music. I currently work at Trinity Laban Conservatoire on its programme for young people.

So what can the Alexander Technique offer musicians? Here are some benefits.

  • freedom and efficiency of movement
  • relief from pain and tension
  • greater self-awareness
  • injury prevention
  • mind-body unity
  • holistic approach to learning
  • improved mental health
  • improved breathing
  • strategies for singers or particular instruments, e.g. violin, piano, guitar or cello.
  • strategies for long rehearsals/ carrying instruments etc
  • greater self-confidence/ overcoming performance nerves
  • a deeper connection to the music

In short, through establishing balance and ease, the Alexander Technique will help create the foundations for your art:

“I have been to numerous Alexander talks over the past 40 or so years … What Henry’s talk did, though, was to explain the rationale behind the Technique in a way which clarified it for me as never before.”
