Semi-supine

forest clearing 80

‘Semi-supine’ means to lie down with your legs bent (‘semi’) on your back (‘supine’). It is the single best practice you can do outside of Alexander Technique lessons. Try it for 15 minutes a day.

To begin, find a fairly firm surface, place a slim book under your head, bend your knees and rest the soles of your feet on the floor. Have your hands on your belly or by your sides.

Inspired by Martha Postlethwaite’s poem above, I’ve created a free audio below which will take you through the process (either press play or click at the far right to download the file). Do let me know if you enjoyed it!

Why not also book a personalized hands-on session with me in Bristol to experience the full benefits of this wonderful practice?
